I thank you very much for introducing me to the
SPOT tracker. As I made my trip from Olympia, WA through western British Columbia, the Yukon Territory, and Alaska, my course was plotted and displayed extremely accurately every step of the way. I was surprised to find my location correctly displayed in parking at Ketchikan, right down to the parking spot and upon my return
home, my last point was right in front of my hangar.
The real time position reporting enroute was equally accurate right down to altitude displays. Amazing!
As far as I'm concerned,
SPOT tracker is the single best safety improvement that has taken place in aircraft locating technology. This is a quantum leap from either an ELT or even a satellite phone. Just a few years ago, it was considered cutting edge for a well-funded corporate flight department to set up a network for tracking airplanes and helicopters and it was cost-prohibitive for a private individual.
Now, not only is it very cost-effective, but a great leap in safety because if the worst happened, authorities would know precisely where to locate you. With the use of this outstanding device "Search
& Rescue" as we knew it is over. It's now just "Rescue".
