Why a SPOT GPS Locator?
Each year, millions of people escape to the
great outdoors. Unfortunately, not all of them
escape from it.
The National Association of Search and Rescue
estimates that there are over 50,000 search and
rescue missions launched each year in the United
States. Most of these are initiated without
knowledge of the victims’ location.
However, you don’t
have to be an outdoor adventurer to be at
risk. Anyone who works or travels in remote
areas or who lives in a region where the threat
of inclement weather or natural disasters are a
reality also knows how fast situations can turn
bad and how quickly you can find yourself
without communications. This is why SPOT makes
the perfect addition to any survival or disaster
preparedness kit.

How Spot Works
•
GPS satellites provide
coordinates.
•
SPOT Messenger's onboard GPS chip determines
your exact coordinates and sends your location
and message to SPOT Satellite System.
• SPOT commercial satellites relay your message to specific satellite antennas around the world.
• Satellite antennas and supporting equipment route your message and location to the appropriate network.
• Your message is delivered to the appropriate recipient via text message, email or emergency service notification.
